3 poses to stretch the hamstrings

The tightest part of the body for most people is the hamstring muscle group. Most people say “I cant practice Yoga, I cant even touch my toes”  Well, thats exactly why you should practice Yoga among so many other reasons, this just being one- a physical one 🙂

The graceful revered most wanted act of touching the toes in a forward bend becomes accessible when your hammies are flexible enough. The hamstrings are a three bellied muscle group that are quite stubborn. Instead of pushing or pulling too forcefully, these need to be gently worked with.

It really calls for a surrender, an act of letting go and allowing each pose to unfold. With every exhalation, it is a softening into the pose. If we push too hard, the muscles have a tendency to get stuck since the body gets a single  that there is danger to the safety of the muscles and this then inhibits the whole point of stretching. Hence, slow and steady wins the race.

Check out these 3 poses that can be practiced at home. I suggest to take a look at the previous videos of Sun salutations to get a bit warmed up before stretching the hammies so the body is safe. Enjoy and keep up the practice 🙂
