Mala & Mantra

Today I uncover the Mala and yet another unique part of yoga and meditation called Japa yoga which involves a meditative repetition of a mantra on a pure thread of beads. A mantra is a pure sacred utterance of a word, syllable or a group of words in Sanskrit. My personal 108 mala is kept within my reach at all times, but rarely exposed. While it is not uncommon to wear it around the neck, some people keep it safely in a bead bag to keep it clean.

mylittlemantra 1A couple of weeks back, I stumbled up a rather interesting collection of mala’s offered by ‘mylittlemantra‘. They were really pretty and had a bohemian beach vibe to it. However what got my attention was the fact that they were handmade, infused with sheer creativity and out of pure love for yogic inspired jewelry and accessories. This coupled with the fact that they were intelligently and thoughtfully put together with semi-precious stones like Jasper, riverstone amongst many others; each denoting a certain characteristic made it even more appealing.

I have my very own little mantra mala now and most of you seen me proudly show it off in class 🙂 I wear it pretty mylittlemantramuch everywhere coz the colors are sooo beautiful and the mala meaningful. Although primarily meant to be tools for meditation, ‘mylittlemantra‘ expresses the love of wearing them as reminders of our intentions, manifestation of our dreams and to harness the healing properties of the crystals. What a wonderful way to uplift and inspire people!

While most seasoned yogis only use a quiet location and the feeling of the earth beneath their feet to begin their spiritual journey. For us lesser beings, a couple of accessories may make us feel good while making our way to meet friends at our favorite yoga class 😉
